Turn on Chat for the first time

Who can use thisMembers and Super Admins

Chat is optional. The first time you open it, a short Welcome to Chat window explains what turning it on means.

Tap Chat in the sidebar. The welcome window appears over the page.

On this screen
- Opening line – Chat is optional. To start messaging, review and accept the terms below — or skip for now and keep using the rest of inLynk.
- You become discoverable – in the Instavc messaging directory, including to people at other companies who use it.
- What is shared – your name, email and profile photo are shared with that directory so people can recognise you.
- If you turn it off later – your directory entry stays. Turning messaging off stops inLynk using it, but does not delete it.
- Tick box – I have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions.
- Accept & Continue – grey until the box is ticked.
Tick the box. Accept & Continue turns blue. Tap it.

- Ticked box – the blue tick.
- Accept & Continue – now bright blue and ready to tap.
Chat opens. A new account has no conversations yet.
An empty Chat
On this screen
- Left – No conversations yet. Tap the + button to start a chat or create a group. Messages, photos and files all live here.
- Right – Start chatting instantly by searching for contacts. Exchange messages, share files, and more!, with New chat and New group buttons.
- Bottom tabs – Chats, Broadcast, Calls and Settings.

Good to know

Read the second and third points before you accept: other people can find you by name, including people outside your organisation who also use Instavc messaging.
Only people who have also turned on messaging appear as contacts. See Start a chat.
