Permission you need

View files and folders

Set by your workspace admin. If you cannot do this, ask them for access.

Search looks through the names of the files and folders in your drive. For example, searching report finds both a folder called Finance Reports and a PDF called Q3_Business_Report.

Open Drive on the My Files tab. Find the magnifier icon at the top right.

- Magnifier – the first of the four tools at the top right. Tap it to open the search box.
- The other tools next to it are filter, sort and the grid/list switch.
- Tap the magnifier and the search box opens in its place.
Type what you are looking for. Results update as you type.

- Search box – replaces the magnifier at the top right and shows what you typed (report).
- × inside the box clears the text.
- Results – matching folders and files appear as normal cards: here the folder Finance Reports and the PDF Q3_Business_Rep….
- Footer – Showing 2 of 2 items tells you how many matches there are.
- Every result still has its ⋮ menu, so you can open, share or rename it straight from the results.
Tap a result to open it, or tap the × to clear the search and return to the full list.

Tip: to narrow by date or by kind of file (images, videos, documents) use Filter, sort and change the view.
